Canon Point: After the city of Terminal Tokyo was fixed, allowing Chosen to come and go to the Digital World freely
History: At first things are as normal as can be for Fluttershy, her adventures with her friends as an Element of Harmony aside. Shortly after the incident that led to Twilight's coronation as an Alicorn princess, however, Fluttershy finds herself pulled into a strange new land called the Digital World to become one of the many "Chosen children". While the trip changed Fluttershy from a pegasus to a human being, her feathered wings oddly remained as she arrived in the city of Terminal Tokyo, where she met her partner, a rabbit-like Digimon called Lopmon.
It takes her a while to get used to everything - the strange new world, her new form, and all the other strange "humans" that were also brought to the Digital World as Chosen - but with the help of her Lopmon and the new friends she made in the city, Fluttershy managed to settle in Terminal Tokyo fairly well. Despite being called one of the Chosen meant to help the Digital World (and by extension, all of the worlds with the barriers between them weakening), Fluttershy had some doubt that her presence would help. The very first incident of a swarm of Beemon invading the city accentuated her doubts, as she felt she was unable to do much during the battle. However, it was also this time that she acquired a role of a medic of sorts, helping to care for anyone who was injured.
After that first battle, Fluttershy became determined to do something to help (not yet realizing just how helpful she could be), and eventually managed to learn to fly with her wings in her human body. And despite little glitches in the city here and there (like her Digimon inadvertently Digivolving on his own or people's personalities briefly changing), Fluttershy and the other Chosen settled into city life. Fluttershy herself found a job taking care and teaching baby Digimon. While the loss of some Chosen who had disappeared from the city was concerning though, the appearance of new Chosen came with more opportunity for Fluttershy to make even more friends, with the help of her Lopmon (who she eventually named Choco).
It was also during an influx of new Chosen arriving that Fluttershy learned that Twilight and Rarity had arrived in the city, much to her delight. But after only a short time, Rarity disappeared, and a heartbroken Fluttershy took off to find her, getting lost in the surrounding forest for several weeks and even breaking her wing. Unable to do anything else, she somehow managed to return to the city, where several of her friends helped her patch up her wing and take care of her. Unfortunately, upon her return she discovered that Twilight had also left the city while she had been away.
Upset that her two friends from her world - as well as other Chosen who were taken from the Digital World - were gone, Fluttershy did her best to endure, continuing her job of teaching baby Digimon and helped by interacting with the friends she'd made that still remained in the Digital World, as well as make friends with even more Chosen arriving. The world also continued throwing the Chosen into adventures, such as randomly placing Chosen at different places of the Digital World or Chosens' memories being broadcasted to everyone. One such adventure - a blackout that covered the entire city in darkness - resulted in Choco Dark-Digivolving due to her fear and inability to move, before he and two other Digimon were killed. Fluttershy was once again filled with despair, but somehow held it together as she and a group of friends traveled to Primary Village, where she and the two others were able to retrieve the eggs of their Digimon partners.
Returning with Choco's egg, things settled back to as normal as could be for the Digital World. The strange happenings in the city were becoming less strange, and Fluttershy was beginning to get used to dealing with them. Between those, her job, taking care of her new baby Digimon that hatched from Choco's egg, and her growing friendships with other city residents, it was a wonder that Fluttershy found much time for anything. However, Fluttershy would also find that her growing friendship with certain individuals were beginning to develop into something more. She had developed strong feelings for her friend Beastboy, even though he was dating her equally-close friend Terra, and despite Fluttershy herself not even realizing she had such feelings for him.
There were other concerns to be had, however. Around this time, several Chosen were beginning to behave very strangely, affected by what would later be known as the SCOPE virus. The virus caused those who were affected to act almost opposite of who they were, much to the confusion of the others. It was at this time that Fluttershy found herself in a predicament. Her friend and former roommate, Donatello, had asked her to protect his Digimon partner's egg before the virus' influence affected him too deeply. But in the full force of the virus, Donatello attempted to trick Fluttershy into returning the egg to him, with the intention of destroying it. When Fluttershy didn't fall for his deception, though, Donatello threatened to get his partner's egg back through any means necessary, much to the concern of Fluttershy and her friend, Hiccup, who she confided to about the incident. Afterwards, Fluttershy hid the egg in the school she worked at while coming up with a plan to keep the egg safe.
The virus had also affected Beastboy, which led to an incident that further confused Fluttershy's feelings for him. Not wanting to make a mistake that would hurt him or Terra, Fluttershy stepped back from interacting with Beastboy for a while, instead focusing on even more newcomers arriving in the Digital World. It was at this time that the Kratt Brothers arrived to Terminal Tokyo, and Fluttershy bonded with the brothers over a mutual love of animals. She developed a special bond with one brother in particular, Chris, growing closer to him even the short time he had been in the city and, despite once again not realizing it, began to develop feelings for him.
Fluttershy and Chris grew even closer together, although partly due to a dire situation. Donatello grew tired of waiting, and one day went to get his partner's egg back from Fluttershy. Ready to put her plan into motion, Fluttershy evaded Donnie as long as she could, but was no match for the ninja, who caught up to her quickly and broke her wing (the other one, not the one she had broken before). Donnie was about to finish her off when the timely arrival of Hiccup saved her, but led to Hiccup's unfortunate death. Donnie then left Fluttershy, broken and upset, to deliver a message to his brother Michelangelo, and she and Hiccup's body were found by the Kratt brothers, who took the two to Martin's mostly empty apartment where Fluttershy's injuries were treated. Luckily, because of the parameters of the Digital World, Hiccup came back to life, and Hiccup and Fluttershy both remained there, the Kratts helping to take care of them both as they recovered.
Their recovery time was interrupted however with the arrival of Titamon, a god-like Digimon, who gave the Chosen a startling announcement; the Digimon that the Chosen had, the Digimon that had been with them since their arrival to the city, were not their real partners. Instead, they were clones of the Chosens' real partners, brought about by the SCOPE virus. This led Sakuyamon to discover the location of the Chosens' real partners, and as she brought them to the Chosen, the SCOPE virus was removed, returning the affected Chosen to their rightful selves just as she and another deity Digimon, Lotsumon, engaged a battle with Titamon, which had devastating ramifications on the city.
Many Chosen went to help during the battle, Titamon bringing shades that fought and brought even more destruction in the city. Other Chosen remained, helping to tend to those who were injured during the battle. This is where Fluttershy was, despite still recovering from her broken wing, as she helped to take care of those who needed help. And it was here, while Fluttershy was comforting Michelangelo after his own personal battle with Donatello, that Fluttershy received her Crest - the Crest of Kindness - and met her "real" partner, Floramon, much to Choco's dismay.
The battle eventually ended, and with it came the long task of cleaning up the city from all the devestation. During this time, more Chosen arrived, and Fluttershy was surprised when not only Rainbow Dash and even Trixie arrived, but Twilight and Rarity both returned. Oddly though, while Rarity remembered being in the Digital World, Twlight did not. Despite that, Fluttershy was still excited to see her friends again (even barring a tearful reunion with Rarity), and with them and her new friends, Fluttershy was on the mend both physically and emotionally. Part of this involved talking out the incident involving Beastboy with both him and Terra, and as her two friends reunited Fluttershy (unknowingly) closed the doors to any feelings she might have had for Beastboy.
At the same time, she continued spending time with Kratt brothers, growing ever closer to Chris, though still didn't understand how deep her feelings for him ran until Rarity helped her realize them, as they were making holiday gifts. With that realization of strong feelings for Chris, she began to avoid him a little bit, even as she helped him plan a surprise birthday party for Martin. She managed with the excuse that she was busy, as she was also making presents for many of her friends in the city, but Chris still did notice her absence, especially after the birthday party where she disappeared from him completely.
It all came to a boiling point on Christmas. The arrival of Venusmon, and her gift to the Chosen of new Digivices that would allow both Chosens' Digimon to Digivolve, had the atmosphere pleasant at first, becoming a Christmas party of sorts for the Chosen as they gave and received gifts to each other. But during this, after their own exchange of gifts, Fluttershy accidentally professed her feelings for Chris, much to his surprise and her embarrassment. She quickly ran away, holing herself up in her apartment and avoiding him for a while, even after a brief text conversation with him that left her even more uncertain and confused than before.
She would not be able to remain hidden away for long, though, as New Years Day came with a literal bang when another god-like Digimon angrily began to attack the city. Though another Digimon came to stop him, the Chosen were forced to evacuate as Terminal Tokyo was completely destroyed. Another place was created for the Chosen to stay, though, called Hospitown, but it required a few days of travel for the Chosen to get there. During this time, Fluttershy was suddenly taken from the Digital World and returned home to Equestria, where she had no memory of her adventures with her Digimon. She settled back to life as normal, getting involved in adventures with her friends such as returning the Elements to the Tree of Harmony. After the incident involving the vampire fruit bats, however, Fluttershy was taken back to the Digital World, where she finally arrived to Hospitown to join the Chosen already there.
Things had become fragmented, though, many Chosen returning home or deciding to stay someplace other than Hospitown. And despite the still occasional situations that they all were forced to deal with, the Chosen were somewhat divided and left to their own devices. Fluttershy herself was torn between staying in Hospitown with the friends that remained, and traveling with Kratt brothers to explore when Chris asked her to. After being swept up by a Digital stream and getting lost once again, Fluttershy decided to travel with the Kratts in order to gain some surival training.
However, the Digital World suddenly returned the Chosen to their home worlds, and the Chosen had no memories of their time in the Digital World. Fluttershy once again returned to normal life, joining her friends through many adventures that eventually led to the defeat of Tirek, and the creation of Princess Twilight's new castle.
Yet sometime after that, Fluttershy would once more find herself pulled into the Digital World, and even moreso find herself in the suddenly restored Terminal Tokyo. Here she reunited with many of the friends she made in the city. She also met with Chris again, and after a brief exchange of feelings, they began to explore something of a relationship together, made easier when they discovered that they were able to pass freely in and out of the Digital World.
Personality: Just based on her name, one might assume that Fluttershy is a timid individual. And they would mostly be right. Very quiet and soft-spoken, she often has a bit of difficulty interacting with others, and can be easily frightened or flustered around unfamiliar people or situations. She also has an extensive list of fears, ranging from full-grown dragons to Nightmare Night to simply being the center of attention. On the surface, it would be easy to write Fluttershy off as cowardly or weak.
But that could not be farther from the truth. In actuality, Fluttershy possesses a strength and feelings that many - sometimes even Fluttershy herself – aren’t aware of. That is because, as much as Fluttershy does not wish to bother anyone, she might suppress her own feelings in favor of someone else's, putting aside her wants and desires in order to help others. In recent times, she is beginning to learn to express herself. And while that sometimes that leads to Fluttershy losing control of herself a bit since she isn’t used to letting herself get angry or to want things, with the support and guidance of her friends she is learning how to find that balance to assert herself – her thoughts and feelings and wants – without accidentally hurting others.
It is still something that Fluttershy is working on, however, as she much prefers to take care of others’ needs before her own. But that is part of Fluttershy’s greatest strength; her great compassion towards others. Known as the bearer for the Element of Kindness, Fluttershy has a big heart that deeply cares for all her friends, whether those friends are other ponies are the creatures that she tends to around her cottage. She especially has an easier time with her animal friends, and even makes friends with creatures that other ponies would normally be frightened of and wouldn’t give a chance. Her trip to the Digital World also introduced her to another type of creature; the creatures known as “humans”. And despite her initial shyness with so many unfamiliar faces, she eventually made friends with many humans, caring for them the same way she cares for all her friends.
And she is also willing to do whatever she can for her friends. Even if she has difficulty standing up for herself, she does her best to push aside or work through her fears to help her friends when they need her. It isn’t always easy, especially if she is put up to some of her greatest fears. But when her friends are in danger or in trouble, she will always be there for him in the end. Because of this, she has done many things for the sake of her friends, ponies and animals alike; in her home world, she has worked through her fear of being in the public eye to perform a necessary task, she has faced dangerous creatures like a dragon and a cockatrice, and she has taken on powerful villains (with her friends, of course). In the Digital World, she learned how to perform basic first aid for humans and Digimon; she got to talk to and know so many strangers to make friends with them, and to help cheer them up if they were down; and she even was willing to risk her life in order to keep a promise to a friend, to protect something because he had asked her to.
That moment in the Digital World had been especially difficult for her, because even though she was prepared to sacrifice her life, the situation that caused it resulted in the death of one of her friends instead. And unfortunately, it is something that Fluttershy has never forgiven herself for, because she feels that her friend’s death was her fault. Due to being bullied and picked on when she was a filly, Fluttershy grew up with rather low self-confidence, and is often times very hard on herself. She often doubts herself, and does not always see the potential in herself that others have seen. And if something goes wrong – if she accidentally hurts a friend, or like when a friend of hers died protecting her – she will always blame herself, and is not able to forgive herself, even when others have forgiven her, or if it wasn’t her fault in the first place.
However, even when she cannot forgive herself, she is always willing to forgive others. Such is the case with her friend, Donnie in the Digital World who seemed to have betrayed her, who broke her wing and killed another of her friend; because she knew Donnie was not in control of his actions, she had no problem forgiving him when he returned to normal, despite the horrible things he was forced to do. And like the case with Discord; when she saw he could and was willing to change, she was able to forgive him and become good friends with him, despite him once trying to take over Equestria. Because, like the animal friends she’s made that others might fear or dislike, Fluttershy tries hard to see the good in others – even when others might not be able to – and is always willing to give someone else a chance.
Because Fluttershy has a strong and kind heart that cares greatly for her friends, no matter what they’re like. And while Fluttershy is willing to grow, learning to speak up more and assert herself, caring for others is something that she would never want to change.

Fluttershy once again found herself stuck in a strange world.
Though actually, it was strange to be calling it strange. This was Equestria, after all, even if it wasn’t her Equestria. But maybe that was part of the problem. Despite how familiar it was, there were still some differences – things that have happened that she had little understanding of. And to be suddenly thrown into this world in the middle of it all was…difficult.
Part of her missed the days where she would have gladly preferred being “stuck” at home, back when she didn’t know of any other world besides Equestria and nothing seemed quite so complicated. But that was before she had been swept away, first to the Digital World where she encountered so many strange creatures from more realms than she could possibly fathom. And getting to meet them…getting to make so many new friends with beings from other worlds…deep down, she knew she would never regret it.
Especially because one such friend from another world had come to mean so much more.
But that just made times like this hard, when she was unable to go see any of them. Since coming to this Equestria, this world so similar and yet not quite her home, she discovered that her Digivice no longer worked. And if it didn’t work, then it meant she couldn’t travel back to the Digital World.
She couldn’t…see him…
“…Fluttershy? Are you okay?”
She glanced up at the brown rabbit that spoke to her, looking at her with concern. Somehow, Choco and Sprout had come with her when she was brought to this Equestria, and while they had changed from Digimon to regular creatures, she had to admit having them here brought something of a comfort to her.
She managed to give him a small smile, not wanting him to worry. “Y-Yes…I’m all right, Choco,” she replied softly.
Choco didn’t seem to believe her, but still smiled and hopped closer, snuggling into her. “It’ll be okay…”
“That’s right,” the green and red dragon that Sprout became added. “Even if we’re not in the Digital World, we were meant to help you. Besides, there’s gotta be a reason we came with you, right?”
Fluttershy blinked. She hadn’t quite thought of that; that there was a reason that her Digimon had come with her. But…it was possible, right? Just like there had been a reason that she had been taken to the Digital World in the first place.
Just like…there must be a reason that she was here, in this world.
Fluttershy smiled, slowly rising to her feet. “Yes…you’re right.” Glancing around the familiar town, she nodded to them both. “We better get going.”
There just had to be a reason she was brought to this world. And if there was - if there was a way she could help – then she would do her best to do what was needed of her, just as she had done before.
And only after she had done everything she could…maybe she would be able to go back to her home. Maybe then she could see her other friends…see him…again.
